Pacific Coast Highway & Channel Islands National Park From Los Angeles

Pacific Coast Highway & Channel Islands National Park From Los Angeles

$6.50

State Route 1 (SR 1) is a major north-south state highway that runs along most of the Pacific coastline. It is the longest state route in California. The highway is designated as an All-American Road. In addition to providing a scenic route to numerous attractions along the coast, the route also serves as a major thoroughfare in the Greater Los Angeles Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Barbara County, and several other coastal urban areas.

Beyond its iconic coastline, the Golden State is home to various parks and sites managed by the U.S. National Park Service, and the Channel Islands, located between Santa Barbara and Ventura, stands out. Among the youngest national parks, this marine sanctuary was established in 1980 and includes five islands and the six nautical miles surrounding each. It's also one of the least-visited national parks—in part because visitors must travel there by boat or small plane—and remained largely undisturbed for centuries. As a result, the park is a prime example of the coastal Mediterranean ecosystem, found in just five places on earth. In fact, 145 species inhabiting the Channel Islands are found nowhere else. Thinking about visiting one of California's national parks? In the Channel Islands, these experiences can make your trip.

This 2-day adventure begins on Santa Monica pier and ends on another beautiful pier in Ventura. In between, you visit Malibu Pier, Point Mugu State Park, with an overnight stay in Oxnard after a quick stroll on the Pier Walk.

The next morning take a ferry from Ventura or Oxnard pier to any of the picked islands of the eight-island archipelago of Channel Islands.
